Proverbs 26 – The Sensible 7

26:16 – The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can answer sensibly.

When I read this, my first thought was, “Hmm…am I the lazy man?”  After all, my dad told me (more than once), “You always think there is a better way.”  And, I do.  I always think there is a “better” way.

Sometimes, I’m find it; sometimes I don’t.

Much of human progress is because someone found an easier, faster, more convenient, etc. way for themselves – and for everyone else.  To do this, sometimes, they had to swim against the tide of opinion (the seven men who can answer sensibly) to bring those ideas to fruition.

If you’re that person, fear not!  This is not that.  You are not lazy if you’re willing to do the work to make your idea a reality.

Whew!

Maybe we’re the “seven men who can answer sensibly”?

I’m reminded of the adage, “If you can’t persuade them with logic, then baffle them with BS.”

How many times have we listened to our political leadership and thought, “What?!?  That makes no sense!”

It seems the American people are waking up and realizing that we’re not the lazy man; we’re the “seven men who can answer sensibly.”

The lesson?  Trust yourself.  If the explanation doesn’t make sense to you, it’s not because you’re the fool.

Maybe it’s time to replace the “lazy men” currently in office with “men who can answer sensibly.”
