Proverbs 29 – WWJD?

29:27 – An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.

I find the difference in terms insightful.

It doesn’t say “evil,” it says “unjust.”  An unjust man is someone who’s behavior is not based on what is morally right and fair.  Accidents happen, but we get mad when someone acts unjustly on purpose.

Perhaps that’s why Christians are considered intolerant.  The “WWJD” fad of a few years ago, encouraged us to believe tolerance is a Christian virtue.  While I’m not a biblical scholar, I can not find a single instance of Christ tolerating what was wrong or unjust.  While He was loving and compassionate, He never tolerated what was wrong.

Which means:  Intolerance IS a Christian virtue!  We are called to be loving and compassionate.  We are not called to tolerate that which we know is wrong!

But only “he who is upright in his way” is an abomination to the wicked.  Not to the “unjust,” but to the wicked!  And, the wicked are not known for their mercy.

I’ve noticed that the more “upright” a thing is, the more opposition I encounter in doing it.

So, the question is:  Are you upright in your way?  Are you willing to be an abomination to the wicked, or are you a “covert Christian”?

It’s tough to make disciples of all nations when we won’t admit what WE stand for.
