Proverbs 8 – Two Roads Diverged…

1 – Does not wisdom cry out, and understanding lift up her voice?

2 – She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, beside the way, where the paths meet.

Every day, we make hundreds (possibly thousands) of decisions.  Hit the snooze button or not?  Wear the white shirt or the blue one?  Have coffee and a danish for breakfast or have two eggs and bacon?

Some decisions are life-changing – ask her to marry you, join the armed forces, buy a house, have a child.  Some decisions are not life-changing – which movie to see, where to eat, work out this morning or this evening, or…answer that text while driving?

What if they are all life changing?  Not potentially life-changing but actually life-changing.

In the final stanza of his poem “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost alludes to it:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

If taking the one less traveled by made all the difference, then taking the one more traveled by could have made all the difference, as well.  Which means every path, every decision, could make “all the difference.”

Wow!  That’s a lot of pressure!

Wouldn’t it be great to have a guide?

I have great news!

At every point in our life (or in our day) where two roads diverge, Wisdom is standing on the high ground.  She sees where each road leads and is crying out with the best advice and guidance.

We simply have to listen, have faith, and act.
