Proverbs 14 – You’re looking. Really?

14:6 – A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, but knowledge is easy to him who understands.

I was checking in to the gym the other day.  After punching in my phone number on the key pad, I looked two inches to the right of the pad, for the fingerprint scanner.  It wasn’t there.  So, after a few seconds of searching for it, I asked the attendant, “So, is the scanner broken?”

The woman looked at me like I was an idiot, and said, “No, it’s right there.”

I looked, and the scanner still was not there.  At this point, I’m thinking this person has no idea what they’re talking about, so I said, “Where?  I don’t see it.”

“On the other side of the keypad.”

Sure enough, less than two inches to the left of the keypad, there was the scanner.  (Yes, I felt like the idiot she probably thought I was.)

As I was reading today’s chapter, I was reminded of that incident.  I wonder how often God is looking at us and trying to tell us, “Just look over here!”

Yet, in our absolute certainty, we refuse to ask, and we often refuse to see.

Not because we can’t see, but because we won’t look.
